  • About the Design

Sonora originated as a hand-dyed fabric. Using the Japanese art of shibori, the fabric was folded and clamped before applying pigment. This technique is known as a resist and allows only the exposed areas to absorb color. Once washed and dried, the textile was scanned and digitally manipulated to create a deconstructed repeat. 'Sonora' refers to the shortened Spanish translation of "soundwave" - la onda sonora.
