Our line of boutique placemats and table runners is digitally printed in Pennsylvania using water-based pigment inks on the highest quality linens. Each is then carefully stitched cut, stitched, and packaged within the studio. Add a classic sophistication to any table setting by pairing them with our napkin rings and coasters.
Barren Wilds originated as a hand-dyed fabric. The techniques used incorporate multiple layers of dyeing and overdyeing to create a vast palette of hues. Once rinsed and dried, the dyed fabric was then coated in a thin layer of potato starch paste. As the paste hardens, the starch expands and creates thin cracks along the surface of the textile. A thickened dye formula is then painted on top of the starch and absorbed into the fabric along the exposed cracks. The result is a detailed crackle impression and a kaleidoscope of neighboring colors. Finally, the fabric is scanned and digitally manipulated to create a seamless, organically arranged repeat.
